37 weeks and 2 days...

2 comments:
Just a few days or maybe week/s away to finally meet Thea's baby brother. As my due date becomes nearer, my husband and I are getting more and more excited for his arrival. I am quite afraid because this time, my husband is not here but I believe that God will be at my side on that very special day.

I am still working until now, hoping to finish important reports until Friday. My next hospital visit will be on Saturday, October 16. This coming weekend might by a busy one. I am yet to prepare other things that me and my baby need.

October 4 is World Habitat Day

No comments:
"Let's raise our voices and advocate for change to help those around the world who do not have a decent place to live".

With the continuously growing population, more and more people around the world need a decent place live. This urges the United Nations to declare every First Monday of October as World Habitat Day. This year, Habitat for Humanity will raise awareness of the need for improved housing and highlight Habitat's priorities: the worldwide connection between human health and housing, and in the U.S., neighborhood revitalization. These themes reflect the United Nation's chosen theme for 2010 for events in the host city of Shanghai, China and the rest of the world: "Better City, Better Life."

Through the efforts of Habitat for Humanity to raise awareness and advocate for universal decent shelter, we can dismantle and alter the systems that allow for poverty housing and make an affordable, decent place to live a reality for all.

As an individual, what can we do for World Habitat Day?

Here are three important things that we can contribute to World Habitat Day:

1. Advocate
In addition to building homes in partnership with people in need, Habitat promotes to address the cause of poverty housing. Several advocacy activities include a specific request, such as asking supporters to sign petition, send a letter to an elected official, or join in a rally.

2. Fundraise

This event - World Habitat Day, is a great opportunity to raise funds for Habitat in your area. A fundraiser can help educate the public and generate publicity for non-profit organization like Habitat for Humanity.

3. Educate

Organize a public awareness event for World Habitat Day 2010 that not only highlights the need for affordable and decent housing, but also discuss the need for improved shelter for billions of people worldwide.

So let's spread the word and help people in need of decent housing!
